sunday mornings

This blog has taken a long time to get up & running. And hopefully in that span of time, approached visitors (not many, actually) do not think this is a blog of nothingness, and just a pretty header.

So, after the ritual willing-myself-to-get-up-at-7am before going to mass, today I made myself detour and take a trip to the markets. Yes, the markets, the place where people hustled and bustled, where fruit-men in tank tops shouted overriding shrills of 'one dollar' sales over and over until the point where you didn't even know what the hell they were saying. But I was met with a slight surprise. The place was no longer packed with swarms of people as I remember, but was rather replaced with a sense of calmness and serenity. Whilst it made it a lot easier to stalk a cute guy working at a particular perfume store on his toilet break, it just wasn't the same.

There was no awkward touching in awkward places, or bumping into cute strangers. Heck, even slipping on random grapes and fruit added to the adventure. Maybe it was just at these particular markets, but maybe people are drawn away from the lack of allure. But there's something intriguing about shopping in a place that could pass off as a massive parking lot with its bubblegum-patterned floors, and kebab stores every few metres.

I did, however, manage to find myself a number of damn good deals at several clothing stores (bring on the unrivaled $5 clothing rack).

For those out West, Parklea Markets is the place to be. For those itching for somewhere to be on public holidays, they're also open most public holidays.
